HaVE QUESTIONS? CHECK BELOW TO SEE IF THE ANSWERS YOU SEEK ALREADY AWAIT…

  1. ARE YOU CURRENTLY ACCEPTING COMMISSIONS/CUSTOM DESIGN PROJECTS, AND HOW DOES THAT PROCESS BEGIN?

Yes! Please email customdesigns@jakeeganohara.com to introduce yourself and outline your request. Please include a detailed description, color preferences and reference photos to help us begin to see your vision, as well as the type of event or celebration, and the date your custom design will be required. Please don’t forget to let us know how to contact you! From there, we’ll be in touch within 3-5 days!

Please note that that this is not a manufacturing/alteration “drop and go” drive-through. This full-service, start-to-finish experience starts with the merging of ideas and creation of vision, and what follows as your project develops from renderings to reality is a process rarely seen or experienced by many, that you will feel lucky to be a part.

While we are confident that you will feel and look like royalty, we ask in advance that you remember at all times that we are not your servants. We reserve the right to terminate the process if we feel as though you’ve become too important to yourself to be good towards others.

  2. HOW MUCH MIGHT A CUSTOM DESIGN COST?

WE BELIEVE THAT FINANCIAL CONCERNS SHOULD NOT BE A PENALIZING VARIABLE IN OUR ABILITY TO COLLABORATE WITH YOU. IF FINANCES ARE TIGHT, THERE IS ROOM FOR NEGOTIATION; DON’T LOSE HOPE— PAYMENT PLANS AND ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE NEGOTIATED WITHOUT JUDGMENT OR DISTEMPER. THEY’RE OUTLINED IN THE SECTION THAT FOLLOWS!

Every custom design project is different, so offering definitive pricing in advance is nearly impossible, however it might be useful to consider a starting budget of around $850 for custom gown design and creation services. Pricing will further depend on the complexity of design, fabric choices, the time/labor involved (level of detail, specialized sewing/construction techniques, etc) and the date your piece is required from the date the project is confirmed. It is important to remember when submitting custom order requests, that a well-made custom piece will not be cheaper than a store-bought one, and the expertise and work required to create a singular garment requires intense artistry, immense time and energy so as to provide clients individualized care and genuine attention, and the financial support to dedicate towards providing only the best results.

Just as the garment will be an investment for you, its' creation will be an investment for the hands and minds creating it; fair and respectful compensation enables artists to keep solvent while doing what we love.

This process is an interpersonal one. It is collaborative and unique. Though a greater financial investment than shopping in a retail store, the rewards of the total experience — from connecting and communicating during the first consultation, to knowing at the end that you’re wearing something one-of-a-kind, both imagined and brought to life based on you and you alone — are often of more value and offer greater meaning than one might ever expect.

  3. DO YOU OFFER AND CAN WE ARRANGE A PAYMENT PLAN WITHOUT SHAME?

Absolutely! It’s hugely important that these services provide inclusive and accessible access for all; financial variance included. After talking through your circumstances and getting a sense of what’s realistic, I am happy to work out an arrangement that is fair and reasonable for all. Typically this involves a larger payment made first, with the remainder then split into manageable segments as determined on a case-by-case basis. While full payment is not required to collect your piece, the first payment is required upon delivery/receipt. Further details regarding payment plans and arrangements can be discussed once I have returned your quote!

  4. CAN YOU REALLY DESIGN SOMETHING THAT CELEBRATES AND HONORS/RESPECTS MY BODY AND MY FORM?

I’m not known for my brevity. But sometimes the simplest and most direct answer is truly the only and best one: “Yes.”

  5. WHY AREN’T YOU ABLE TO ACCEPT MY COMMISSION ?

If you know me personally, you know that I’ll endeavor to accept as many projects as possible. Realistically however, at some point, I may have to to send my regrets but with the hope we can find another opportunity to collaborate. Another reason that I may not accept your commission is if I feel my skills, aesthetic or actual abilities/skills are not the right fit for your project. It is important to me that your best expectations for the process are able to be met successfully, and that the resulting garment and your related expenditure, reflect only the very best and positive experience. If I don’t think I am going to be that designer for you, I won’t contract to take your time, energy, money or trust so as to present a result that does not meet your standards - let alone my own.
