as a director/designer....

Jake has an incredible eye for all things creative. He has a beautiful and artistic soul which has helped produce stunning costumes, as well as beautifully intricate hair and makeup designs. I have also had Jake as a director for several productions. His thoughtful and creative ideas are synthesized through his technique and love of the craft to produce beautifully meaningful theatrical productions. Aside from his creative expertise as an artist, Jake has been one of the most important people in my life. His passion and drive for theatre has been an inspiration to me and all those he has worked with. Additionally, Jake has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. Growing up with his endless love and support has truly been a blessing. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with Jake is incredibly lucky.

Jake was timely, professional and passionate about creating the perfect dress for my project! Not only was the dress unique and beautiful to me and what it was meant to represent in vision, but you could really tell the the hand-stitching, crafted care and attention to detail that went into its ultimate creation. Bravo!!!

Jake is one of the most kind and friendly people you will ever meet. He has designed makeup that I have worn for several musical performances, and each of the designs have been wonderful and extraordinarily creative. He is a true talent.

Working with Jake has been an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to have him as the director of Lexington Player’s “ Spring Awakening” in 2013 and in the reprisal production for the EMACT Festival in 2014. He is a very sensitive and creative human being that strives to be the best, and give the best to every project in which he is involved. His commitment to the project was huge, which helped us express and transmit the essence of each character’s history and drama. I am glad I met him and I am glad he is continuing his artistic endeavors in so many talented ways. Cheers from Argentina!!

I see Jake as not only a role model in his excellence as a director and phenomenal costume designer, but I also see him as a person who cares deeply for his craft and a vast source of theatrical history. He is someone whom I can trust fully in doing a complete and great job. Overall, he is magnificent human who has really helped in developing a greater understanding and love for the theatrical arts within me.

Costumes for [ActorSingers’] “The Wild Party” were exquisite. Every cast member, including each and every ensemble member, had period appropriate clothing that fit well, flattered, and was functional. The costume design instantly immersed the audience in the world of the show.

[The costumes for “The Wild Party” were to die for! I’m a big fan of the fashions of the 1920’s era, and am hard to impress with that stuff onstage— but I really was!
Not only were they dramatic, but period and genre appropriate as well! The looks created were truly unique and creatively designed with the needs of every performer and the personality of each character truly in mind and ready to showcase! The attention to detail, I think, was most impressive. The accessories, color schemes, the focused little quirks lent to each costume — truly masterful. They told the story of the show, and a story of their own at the same time.

JAKE!!!! I just wanted to thank you for the absolute bottom of my heart for all the incredible, breathtaking work you put into Pippin. A gigantic portion of the magic we put out there this weekend was in your vision and it’s outstanding execution. You truly go way above and beyond the expectation, and it is fantastic. You ensured that every last one of us looked cohesive, put together and lovely in a bajillion costumes that were so well thought out and cared for. You made costuming, something which I normally dislike due to my weird proportions and tendency to get handed the left overs, arguably my favorite part of the show.

Jake — Oh. My. God.
To say that you’re one of the most talented creative minds I know would be a gross understatement. Your work is exquisite and belongs on display.
Stunning. Truly. Just. Stunning.

What am amazing experience we both had working with you! My daughter loved getting to know you. She loves to sing, dance, and act and with you at the helm she learned a ton. She had the most amazing time and will never forget it (her words). The costumes turned out to be amazing, and I am glad I got to serve on that committee. Hopefully our paths will cross again.

A quick note to say my daughter had a wonderful time being a part of The Lion King musical. You made the whole experience fun and your enthusiasm for the performing arts was inspirational. The creativity you brought to this production was fantastic and you were a breath of fresh air in the school and the town. A huge thank you for all your hard work and all the magic you made happen over the last two months!
